Ms. Smith received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2001, and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1997. She clerked for Hon. Robert Boochever, Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, from 2001-2002, and for Hon. Napoleon A. Jones, Jr., U.S. District Judge, Southern District of California, from 2002-2003. While in law school, she externed for Hon. Thelton E. Henderson, Senior U.S. District Judge, Northern District of California. She is the author of "Keeping the Constitution's Promise: An Argument for Greater Judicial Scrutiny of Federal Alienage Classifications," 54 Stan. L. Rev. 319 (2001) and a 2002 recipient of the Burton Award for Legal Achievement.
Ms. Smith's work at the firm includes labor and employment litigation. She represents unions, union members, and individual employees in federal and state court, arbitrations, and administrative hearings before public agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board, U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. She also handles matters relating to executive employment agreements and covenants not to compete. She has extensive law and motion experience.
