Arthur N. Four represents private and public-sector labor unions and organizations advocating for unions and their members in arbitration proceedings, before numerous administrative agencies, and in litigation before state and federal courts, as well as providing advice and counsel to labor unions on collective bargaining, internal union matters, and the scope of a union’s duty of representation in a wide range of industries and settings.
Professional History
Arthur joined SSDS as a partner in September 2026, continuing an exclusive practice of traditional labor law that he began in 2018 at Reich, Adell & Cvitan, another Los Angeles union-side labor law firm.
In his career, Arthur has advocated and won victories on behalf of unions and union members in countless arbitration proceedings, and has appeared extensively before the National Labor Relations Board, the California Office of Administrative Hearings, the California Public Employment Relations Board, the US Department of Labor, among other agencies as well as state and federal courts, in matters involving the National Labor Relations Act, the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosures Act, the California Education Code, the California Labor Code, and numerous other laws, regulations, and statutes affecting labor organizations and working people.
In addition to his traditional labor law expertise and experience, Arthur has also spent significant time litigating on behalf of individual union members and California employees in employment, wage and hour, employee benefit, and other Union-adjacent legal matters.
Arthur’s decision to become a union-side attorney followed that of his father, Michael D. Four, a partner at SSDS for nearly 40-years. Due to the same inevitable influence, Arthur is also a card-carrying member of the exclusive labor lawyer-Grateful Dead devotee community.
